Our Story

In 1973, starting with a couple boxes of casters and a handful of business cards, Vern & Edith Hooker began a business in the spare bedroom of their Eugene home.

Grip & Lift Sales Company was born. Building on a long history of relationship sales and a strong work ethic, they quickly grew the company. Needing more space, they moved out of the house, into a small office and warehouse.

They also found they needed more help, so after serving his country in the Navy, Sonny soon joined his parents in the business.

In 1976, the Hookers incorporated and changed the name of the company to Galifco Oregon, Inc., a name that still stands for hard work and a commitment to customer service.

In 1981, after finishing school and getting married, Becky Ogden also joined her parents and brother in the family business, where she had spent many hours after school and in the summers working.

In 1989 Galifco was sold once again, this time to two partners who were looking to make it a lifetime career and investment. Peter Carson ran the business day-to-day. Ron Howard lent his business expertise as needed, while also growing the business his father had started, Ivy Hi Lift.

Where it all began

Sonny worked at Galifco until 2003 when, sadly, he lost his battle with esophageal cancer. I know many of you still remember and miss him, as we do.

On Peter’s retirement in 2009, the family business came full circle, when Becky became a partner with Ron and took over the day-to-day operations.
